Initial pencils for the main comic are done!

Well, as done as they’re going to be if I want to finish this thing this month. Here’s what I’ve done since the last post:

Improved pencils in places where it was just an illegible blob.
Adjusted the story to tie some things together. Made Bread allergic to bees. Gave Laine a chad jaw. Named the bee Beellamina.
Tweaked jokes that really didn’t land, and rewrote any things that I felt were too preachy or edgy.

Moving onto the Boogly comic.

This was originally the Spanky comic, but since I only have enough paper left for 4 more pages, I’m cutting the story down from an initially-planned 32 4-panel comics, to a much more achievable 16 3-panel comics. They’re meant to be quippy and drawn extremely basic.

Why 3-panel? One, because I need to cut back on the amount of drawings. Two, because I could use sticky notes to trace all my squares without having to measure anything like some sort of engineer.

But by cutting out more than half the material, won’t we miss out on a bunch of funny jokes? Nope! When reading through the initial plan, less than half the jokes landed, so if I cut out more than half of the jokes, we’re gold, right? That’s math, baby!

My next steps are to strip back the dialogue/comic plan to 16 short comics (48 panels in total) in a way where it feels like it has a beginning and an end. Then, I’ll doodle in some scrappy pencils. Then I need to do pencils for the cover! Let’s go!
